Halcón- 
Our 2002 Vista del Halcón Chardonnay is traditionally from the Russian River Valley. In order to fulfill the style of Chardonnay that we were trying to achieve, we chose fruit that comes from a hillside vineyard located in the southwestern-most corner of the Russian River Valley. In the Russian River Valley, vineyards that are located at a high point between the cool ocean breezes of Bodega Bay, and the warm, fertile plain of Santa Rosa, are known to produce exceptionally crisp Chardonnay with excellent structure. This benchmark style of Chardonnay is revered for its delicate sophistication, and pairs well with most food. Vineyards cultivated on steep slopes must constantly fight erosion with minimal impact techniques; so, integrated pest management plays a very important role in this style of viticulture. Hillside vineyards in this region have porous, fast draining soil that produces tiny grape clusters, resulting in intensely crisp, and flavorful Chardonnay. Technical Data

Proprietors Bill and Gerry Brinton suggest that this Chardonnay is best enjoyed with fine cheeses, the appetizer course of a meal, or marinated quail on the grill. |
